1. Choose where to buy

There are three common places to buy accounts, and they are not equally safe:

WhereProtectionMain risk
Marketplaces with escrow (EpicNPC, Fameswap, PlayerSells)Escrow holds your money, sellers have ratings and often KYCHigher fees
Established sellers with a public recordReputation built over years, often also listed on marketplacesYou have to verify the record yourself
Random Telegram channels and new websitesUsually noneFake accounts, bot followers, sellers who disappear

2. Check the seller

  • How long have they been selling? Look for years, not weeks.
  • Do they have feedback on a marketplace you can read yourself?
  • Are they KYC verified, so the marketplace knows who they are?
  • Do they answer questions clearly, or push you to pay fast?

3. Check the account

  • Ask for the public profile link, not only screenshots.
  • On X, read the Joined date and scroll through old posts. History should match the age.
  • Look at follower quality: real profiles, replies and likes on recent posts.
  • Ask for analytics screenshots of the last 28 days.
  • Ask about past suspensions, locks and name changes.
  • Make sure the original email comes with the sale.

4. Pay with protection

If you have never bought from the seller before, use escrow. The marketplace holds the payment and only releases it when you confirm you have full control. Be careful with sellers who refuse escrow and only accept payment methods that cannot be reversed.

5. Take over in the right order

The order matters, because each step closes a door the seller could use to get back in:

  1. Email: move the account to an email only you control (or take over the original email and change its password).
  2. Password: set a new, unique password.
  3. Phone and 2FA: remove the seller's phone number and turn on two-factor authentication with an app.
  4. Sessions: log out every other device. On Telegram, check Settings → Devices.
  5. Confirm: only now release the escrow payment.

For Telegram the first steps are different: the account is moved to your phone number with Change Number, and you set your own two-step verification password. See how a Telegram transfer works.

6. The first 30 days

  • Log in from one device and one network at first.
  • Wait a few days before changing the name, photo and handle, then change them one at a time.
  • Post and follow at a normal, human pace. No sudden bursts.
  • Keep the topic close to the old one, or move to the new topic gradually, to keep followers.

Red flags

  • Thousands of followers but almost no likes or replies.
  • The seller will not give the original email.
  • Prices far below everyone else's for “aged” or “verified” accounts.
  • Accounts delivered as session files only, tied to a number you will never control.
  • Pressure to pay now because “someone else wants it”.

More questions buyers ask

Where is the best place to buy Twitter or Telegram accounts?

The safest places are account marketplaces with escrow and seller ratings, such as EpicNPC, Fameswap, PlayerSells, or established sellers who also sell there. Avoid random Telegram channels and brand-new websites with no history you can check.

Is it legal to buy a social media account?

In most countries buying an account is not a crime, but it usually breaks the platform's terms of service. That means the platform can restrict or remove the account. Treat it as a contract risk, not a legal one, and check local law if you are unsure.

How do I avoid getting scammed when buying an account?

Pay through escrow, insist on the original email, check the account yourself through its public profile, and do not release payment until you have changed the email, password and 2FA and logged out all other sessions.

What is account recovery fraud?

It is when a seller hands over an account and later takes it back using the original email, an old phone number or a support request. Getting the original email and removing every recovery option of the seller prevents it.
